Lockdown Routine

“The world needs huge positive energy to fight against the negative forces. Go to the center of your inner being and generate that positive energy for the welfare of the humanity.”
Amit Ray, World Peace: The Voice of a Mountain Bird

24th March 2020 and its a pretty scary time, for all of us, all over the world. People are being forced to stay indoors, not allowed to see their loved ones, hospitals are over run, it feels like the effects of this virus are endless and awful.

Being forced to stay home really leaves me feeling helpless. knowing there's nothing I can do but in the midst of chaos I've learned to try and focus on the positive. Firstly staying at home IS SAVING LIVES. Its the most and least we can do at the same time.

This pandemic has truly brought us closer together as humans. We are all feeling the same things and understanding each other, ultimately coming together with empathy. I really hope this increases and hopefully lasts.
Our earth has been fighting a losing battle against us for far too long. Us being forced to stay inside, not use our cars, factories, littering etc has to have a good effect on the earth for example
The Guardian posted an article about Dolphins and fish moving back into the Venice waters, how amazing is that!

Besides all of that - this is a great time to focus on yourself. Sometimes I get so caught up in the bad news of the world I think why would I need to work on myself when there are so many other important issues going on?But then I have to remind myself and anyone else who may feel this way
that we cant do anything to help anyone in this world if we cant function ourselves.

So I've decided to make a routine filled with good habits I was too lazy to incorporate into my
everyday life before. Hopefully these will become actual habits that will follow me even after all of this is over.

 AM//

So recently I've been waking up majorly early, I'm talking 5-6 AM

If I cant manage to fall back to sleep I'll start reading one of the 3 books I have on my nightstand.

I have 1- A book of French short stories, 2- Rochester selected poems and 3- Catching a serial killer. I'll read a bit and either fall back to sleep or get out of bed.

!!Very important!! Always remember to do your bed as soon as you get out of it! Such a small task has so many benefits. For example, your very 1st sense of accomplishment of the day, I know it sounds silly, but completing this one task gets you ready and even excited to complete your next task!

After my bed is done i'll make myself my morning hot drink. That used to be coffee but ive switched that out for a lovely lemon, ginger and honey tea. This is a lovely little immune system boost and a great time to start boosting too!

Once I have had my hot drink I will try my absolute best to do some sort of workout. Going for a run (If youre allowed to do so) Yoga or one of the countless indoor exercise videos on YouTube! This is a great time to start working out. We have the time, it also builds our immune system and will make us all around happier as it allows our body to produce our 'happy hormones' (Endorphins)

After a little work out its time for a quick shower then breakfast!

After this I'll see if I have any chores to do. Any laundry, basic daily stuff and by the time all of this has been done the morning has mostly passed.

MID DAY//
This is the time were I focus on myself. I have been re doing my room so a lot of my tasks include putting up furniture etc. So I wont include those but I'll try to do some self improvements activities
These include:
  • Using duo lingo to learn French
  • Reading
  • Watching documentaries on YouTube or researching a subject I'm interested in.
  • Learning songs on guitar
  • Deep cleaning the house
  • Garden planning

After these its pretty much time for lunch!

AFTERNOON //

After lunch its relaxing time or ME time. I'll chill in my room, listen to music, do some crafts, play some games, check up on my Instagram progress and work on goals ive set for myself. I'll also chill out with people in my house, watch some TV, draw, paint, do my make-up and try out some new looks  or even have a lovely pamper afternoon and throw on a facemask. This is basically hobby time. All the things you wanted to start doing or didn't have time to do...now is the time!

That will take up most of my afternoon and by this time its time for an afternoon snack, something light and healthy along the lines of fruit and yoghurt.

EVENING //

Evening is free time. Do anything, chill on your phone, have a bubble bath, play some games, facetime your friends! This is the time I allow myself to be lazy and its okay because of my productive day. I'll then have some dinner and get ready for the end of my day.

NIGHT //

By night I mean what I do before bed, a while ago I posted on my Instagram 'good Sundays inspire good Mondays.' and I really believe that the night you have before really effects the morning you'll have the next day that will effect the whole day. So I believe night time routines are just as important.

I'll head to the bathroom and shower if I need to or just a little wash if I feel I don't need a shower as I haven't even left the house!
I'll then oil and brush my hair, tie it up get it out my way
Change into my night clothes
If im in the mood i'll do a bed time yoga (there are 'yoga IN bed' videos on youtube)
I'll then jump into bed; read a little, say a little prayer and then meditate and off to sleep I go.

Its also worth mentioning I do NOT do all of these things EVERYDAY. Ideally that would be amazing if I could but this is only a guide line for myself. Each day is different and each day your mood will change but its nice to have a plan I can turn to if im feeling partically lost.

Love you ALL and hope youre all SAFE, HAPPY and HEALTHY.
