My experience at the Glossier pop up store in London!
When I saw glossier was having a pop up in London and then saw the dΓ©cor, I absolutely had to go that same weekend! I swiftly convinced my sister to come with me, not necessarily to buy anything but because i knew it would be an enchanting experience. I don't tend to wear much makeup so naturally i fell in love with Glossiers 'Minimal' look- it’s what first drew me to the brand. I've had a few products from them in the past, Bubble wrap which i LOVED so much that I had to stop myself from using it everyday. (Bubble wrap is a lip and eye plump.) And i have the birthday balm that i haven't yet used...Both gifted to me from my bestie. I haven’t tried any of the makeup before and i'm definitely in need of a few new products. So I thought heading out to the pop up would be a perfect opportunity to grab the Generation G matt lipstick i've had my eye on, check out the shop that looks like a floral paradise and of course tell you guys all about it!
So 1st i wanna talk decor because i think thats what i was most excited about.I saw pictures of the store and it looked gorgeous. I immediately pictured a ton of photo ideas that i just had to create. The walls, floors, curtains and furniture were all ... Floral. sounds like a headache I know! but it wasn’t. The walls ranged from pink to blue to yellow and green and i appreciated how it could accommodate different personal styles. It wasn't as big as i thought it would have been - besides a few chairs and glossier art work there wasn't that much to it and it can get pretty busy. But if you stay a while the store varies from busy to quite empty (Keeping in mind i went on a Sunday at 2pm). I think if you're creative enough and lucky enough for it to be semi empty you can get some great photographs. Considering the main point of the store isn't the decor but the actual products, they're forgiven. And they scored major points by adding the aorable pink rooftop which is made to mimic London's skyline. I had the MOST fun in that room and thought it was such a personal touch. A few more details i enjoyed - Cute text on the mirrors, floral Glossier post cards and real roses.

Okay, lets talk makeup. like i said i don't wear a lot of makeup but what i can tell you is they had a good range. Skincare, concealers , foundations, the iconic boy brow, blushes, lipsticks and glosses. The whole lot. They had these really cool gel cream blushes (cloud blush) that i fell in love with and was tempted to buy, but controlled myself reminding myself of my mantra that i would only get 1 thing, because that's all i needed.
Something i really appreciated was the hygiene precautions. They had little desks with all the products to try with tiny disposable lip gloss ends, mascara wands and cotton pads. Not to mention makeup remover so you can try to your hearts content. So if you plan on trying products come with a bare face... or pro tip - try everything see what you like so when the store closes (because it is only a pop up) you can buy what you liked online when you're ready. We did find the lighting to be quite harsh, but weren't sure if that was done for make up purposes, but it was pretty harsh.
When you've decided on what you want you just find an assistant who are dressed in the cutest pink jumpsuits and you tell them what product you want (you can even show them). They do their thing on their little tablet, you pay by card and only card btw - no cash. They ask for your name and e mail and then ask you to wait in the sweetest little yellow waiting area. (Great for more Instagram photos) Your name gets called from a little window and you get your product! Oh and if they ask if you want a bag or pouch, ask for the bag. it’s just adorable and something else I really appreciated. The staff were friendly from my experience and happy to answer questions but my sister pointed out it would have been helpful to have a assistant at the tables to help with choosing, applying and give us more information on the product, as there wasn't much. That would have been helpful to makeup newbies like us. Though i did see a member taking photos for someone and that was pretty cute.
So lastly i'm going to run through what we got. I got the Generation G matt lipstick in the shade 'Zip'. Coming into the store i knew what i wanted and i knew that was it. The best way to not over spend or over indulge is to leave with a shopping list in mind because, cmon, how many times have we gone shopping and left with a bunch of stuff we *might* need...and then didn't. I did try on other lip products but ended up leaving with the Gen G. Now my sister didn't really come to buy anything at all but came bare faced because she has been looking for a concealer and i think we planned to check out some other beauty shops....we didn't do that. My sister tried the stretch concealer and was very on the fence with it. She's one of those smart shoppers. Well she tried on the concealer on a small patch of skin and wasn't too impressed, but coming bare faced we thought lets try it on the whole face. We did and my sister still being on the fence was impressed but not sold. I mean we wouldn't usually pay that much for a concealer from a brand we hadn't tried. We weren't sure if the price was based on quality or the fact its a name brand and not having too much experience with using glossier products we were very unsure. I thought the concealer blended in very nicely and my sister decided to buy it. When she went home she told me her husband commented on how good her skin looked...so i think thats a pretty good sign.
Overall i had a great time. This could be because i was in good company but the glossier pop up was quite the experience and we both left with a product we were happy with. The decor is great for creative photos, smaller than expected but still cute. My best friend messaged me saying how she wants to go and i'm more than happy to go again so i'll see you soon Glossier, thanks for a lovely experience. Oh and it's only open till February 9th so if you plan on going, ya gotta get there soon!
