Starting a blog & New Years goals!

My first ever blog post! Very exciting but equally nerve racking. Though I’m sure as time goes on my writing process will grow but for now here I am, deciding to ramble on about things Instagram captions are too short for! And to remind myself of things that just need to be remembered! Not to forget that hopefully in some way I can help somebody who needs inspiration or even those who didn’t know they needed to read an accidental life lesson I may have stumbled upon.

I don't usually write New Years resolutions, but being in my early 20’s a lot of things happen that I can gain from so fast it’s hard to keep track. Then in comes that overwhelming feeling of forgetting something when you most probably haven’t in the 1st place. So this year I’ve decided – along with writing a blog, to start a few resolutions and goals so i’m not to waste energy on things and situations that don’t need it. Plus, I also think reflecting on past years could never hurt anybody.

GOALS

Start making and selling handmade accessories
Hit end of year Instagram following goal
Redo Mums house and my room
Start singing or figure skating lessons
Continue learning French

RESOLUTIONS

Never turn an opportunity down
As an introvert I tend to turn opportunities down, from outings to work opportunities. When I actually decided (or was forced) to go out during last year I would almost always have a great time, meet new people and grow a little.

Be aware of carbon footprint
I mean, I am to a certain extent but I know I could do more. Don’t get me wrong starting small is great... recycle when you can, try to avoid plastic etc but personally now I’m ready to turn my small start into something a bit bigger.

Stop putting things off!
From replying back to that message to making important appointments!

Do more for others/small acts of kindness
Again i'm no stranger to this one. From helpings mothers on buses with screaming children or letting a teenager use my phone when they were lost or to giving all my free coffee coupons to the homeless man in Mc Donald's. We as humans thrive on community and we couldn't live without it or each other. We depend on each other and with all the hate going on in the world right now why not try to spread a little light when possible. Start small! Tell the cashier you hope they have a lovely day, smile at your bus driver... you could end up making someones day and not realise it!
But be cautious! If i were to see a situation i could help with i always make sure to be in a public place feeling fully comfortable and safe.

Try not to judge people
This is a hard one because nearly everyone will judge without even realising they have done it, me included. From gossiping about a person posting stuff online you really don’t agree with, to getting very annoyed about that slow person on the streets not paying attention to their surroundings (this is a big one in London!)

But who is to say what issues that person is going through to make them act out online? Who’s to say that person on the street didn’t just break up with a partner of 10 years and is a bit sluggish. Who is to say YOU were not the one having a bad day for someone else to judge how you portrayed yourself on that particular bad day. And I do this far too often than I’m happy to admit.

So there it is! Some goals and resolutions. A small start, but most definitely still a start.

Have you spent any time to reflect on your year and plan for the next? If no, seriously consider it, you wont regret it!

Friendly reminder: The only person you should ever compare yourself to is yourself.
